Etna Union High School District and the
Siskiyou Institute will partner with Scott Valley educational, recreational, municipal,
service-oriented, and business groups to form the SCOTT VALLEY RURAL COMMUNITY SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP |
VISION STATEMENT
We envision the diverse people groups in Scott Valley working together to create one community with a commitment to affirm one another, respect our differences and focus on shared values. To improve the quality of life for everyone through:
- Life-long learning experiences;
- Viable access to recreational activities;
- Solutions to needs of our under-served people;
- An improved economic climate; and
- A healthy, safe environment.
PROJECTS TO BE ADDRESSED INCLUDE:
- Developing a SVRCSP catalog, website and calendar;
- Securing umbrella insurance for members;
- Implementing a Distance Learning Center/Tech Lab;
- Providing adequate licensed day care;
- Increasing senior activities and services;
- Obtaining intra-valley transportation services; and
- Creating a database of volunteers and 'job' opportunities.
OUR GOALS:
- Improve communication among Valley groups
- Encourage increased cooperative use of our resources
- Provide a common platform to address unmet needs of under, served groups
- Promote EHS and other schools as community centers, open and available to all citizens
- Provide facilities and resources for recreation, skill development, visual and performing arts, crafts, etc.
- Technology Lab & Distance Learning Center open for all ages, with some classes taught by students
- Provide leadership development programs and classes
- Involve seniors and other volunteers to fill the need for leaders and workers in Valley organizations and classroom activities.
- Promote sharing of facilities, parks, recreational areas to make them available to more people
***We have applied for a $300,000 grant to develop the Partnership: however, with or without the grant, we intend to pursue the goals of the Partnership.
