Quote from a fellow CA County Supervisor:

"If you don't like decades of science and research and experience that supports it,
you can always quote junk science and try to get the government to fund new
studies that you hope might prove to the public that your science is the right one.
It's called normative, politically biased science"

OLDER NEWS.

  • WaterSMART - ((Sustain and Manage America’s Resources for Tomorrow -  includes the Klamath) The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is looking for non-federal entities to participate in upcoming basin studies, including one for the Klamath Basin. The study will look at the impacts of climate change on water resources and develop potential adaptation strategies. Eligible partners include agencies, tribes and districts with water delivery management authority. Details are available on the bureau’s website or by contacting Arlan Nickel at (916) 978-5061. The objective of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite States, Indian tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, and other organizations with water or power delivery authority to leverage their money and resources by cost sharing with Reclamation on projects that seek to conserve and use water more efficiently, increase the use of renewable energy and improve energy efficiency, benefit endangered and threatened species, facilitate water markets, or carry out other activities to address climate-related impacts on water or prevent any water-related crisis or conflict. Water conservation, use of water markets, and improved efficiency are crucial elements of any plan to address western United States water issues. With leveraged water and energy efficiency grants, an important step will be taken towards increasing conservation for a more efficient use of water in the West. Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force: Interim Report

Chairman Hastings Asks Appropriators to Halt Funding on President's Ocean Zoning Policy - Executive Order is bad for coastal & inland jobs, economies

Earlier this week, Chairman Hastings sent a letter to House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers requesting a prohibition on funding for the implementation of President Obama's ocean zoning and National Ocean Policy. "The President's Policy is especially alarming due to the fact it will not only affect the oceans and coastal areas, but also stretches far inland following rivers and their tributaries upstream for hundreds of miles. The Administration’s draft National Ocean Policy Implementation Plan includes a list of required actions, outcomes and milestones to be achieved by a number of federal agencies in 2012 and 2013. However, no federal agency has requested any funding for the implementation of these actions which means funds are being diverted for unauthorized activities within the federal agencies’ budgets; House Votes to Halt Funding for President Obama's Mandatory Ocean Zoning Policy

   * Money the family spent: $38,200
   * New debt on the credit card: $16,500
   * Outstanding balance on the credit card: $142,710
   * Total budget cuts so far: $3.85
