I live in a small town in Northern California located in beautiful Scott Valley. I was born in Ohio but we moved to San Diego when I was very young. I grew up and lived there for over 40 years. Then my husband and I retired to Silverton, Oregon in 1975. Unfortunately, he died in 1985 and shortly thereafter, I got my first computer. A Leading Edge with a 20 Mg hardrive and a whopping 640 k of memory. I became addicted. I took an online class in 1993 at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon to learn how to get on the Internet. At that time, the internet was just getting started and we were using Netscape 1.0, Windows 3.1 and DOS.
I taught myself HTML and started doing web pages for our Square Dance Club, The Aurora Handspinners and the League of Women Voters. Every time I upgraded my computer, I gave my previous computer to one of my children and pretty soon they all had computers and could e-mail Mom. Clever, huh? And besides it gave me an excuse to get a new computer.
I went to a reunion in 1997 and ran into Mace Bratt, my high school sweetheart. He had also lost his wife, and we discovered that all of the old feelings for each other were still there. In 1998, we were married and that's how I came to Scott Valley. He had lived here for over 25 years. I now have 2 more children plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
I use this web site mainly for my family. When we were building our home in Scott Valley, I kept everyone up to date on our progress with pictures and stories. Also whenever there is a new addition to the family we can all see the new arrival. We just welcomed our great grandson on August 8th. Our family is so spread out, from England to Hawaii and it is a wonderful way to keep in touch.
