Monte & Darbi Whipple Job

          February 18, 2000, Neil and Monte started digging footings for Monte and Darbi’s first home. Located on the east side of Big Springs, where Darbi was raised. They have a piece of land big enough to raise their pure breed Black Angus cattle on. Beside the smell of sage and high desert plants, they have the most magnificent view of Mt. Shasta. The house was planned by Darbi and Monte, with father-in-law advice from Neil.

          Neil and his crew were to frame up the house and Monte would work on his days off and then finish the house. March and April got the footings, foundation, mud sills, girders, floor joists and rough plumbing in.




          Photos are great and wonderful to see, but they load slowly.
                                        So we are asking for your patience, the waiting will be worth it.

By the end of March the walls were going up.

By Easter the walls and sheathing got done.

The well was dug and the power was put in place. Digging in this volcanic soil was a challenge.

The trusses came from Norton Lumber and up went the roof.

The inside studs and trusses.

The house has shape to it now.

The siding is a new product Neil found.

                After working in Shasta Valley in the winter and wind. The idea of a
strong weather resistant siding was a must.
