STATE HWY3/EASTSIDE ROAD LOOP
This 48 mile circular drive is a pleasant half day trip that will give you a true picture
of many of the faces of Scott Valley. Exit Hwy 3 on Eastside Road in Fort Jones. Follow it
past the original site of old Fort Jones, the cemetery, and many ranches all the way to
Callahan. Head back on Hwy 3 to Etna, then Greenview, and finally back to Fort Jones.

ISLAND ROAD
A pleasant side trip that runs from Etna to Fort Jones. It passes thru the center of the
valley.

QUARTZ VALLEY/ SCOTT RIVER LOOP
You can start this short excursion from either Fort Jones or Greenview. From Fort Jones,
you take the Scott river Road from the south end of Fort Jones. In 7 miles you turn left
on Quartz Valley Road at the old Meamber School. Follow the road past the Charity Mission,
mines, farms, and then Mugginsville. Cross the bridge and your in Oro Fino. Left turn and
you visit this area, or right turn takes you to Greenview where you rejoin Hwy 3.

SCOTT RIVER ROAD
The Scott River Road connects Scott Valley to Hwy 96 and the Klamath River. It is a 35
mile scenic excursion down the Scott River to where this county road joins State Hwy 96 a
few miles up the Klamath River from the community of Hamburg. The road narrows in some
places, but the vistas of white water and majestic mountains is worth the time it takes to
traverse this area. There are Forest Service campgrounds along the Scott River, which was
named for John Scott. You will pass through Scott Bar where he found gold. There is still
active mining going on in this area. Once you reach Hwy 96, you must either turn east to
get to Yreka or west to the community of Happy Camp.

THE SALMON RIVER LOOP
The Salmon River circular drive is an all-day outing and you should be prepared with a
lunch and snack food to eat along the way. Make sure your gas tank is full! You begin this
100 mile plus trip in Etna. Follow Main Street southwest past the cemetery and then over
the 6,000 foot summit of Mt Etna. The road then drops down to Sawyers Bar along the trout
filled streams that lead to Salmon River. Past the old Catholic Church to Forks of Salmon.
You can now either head north to Hwy 96 or head to the south and continue the circle
drive.
You continue up the Scott Fork of the Salmon River to little mining town of Cecilville.
From Cecilville you will head over the 6,200 foot Salmon Summit and Carter Meadows to end
up at Callahan where you can rejoin Hwy 3.
