The Past
In 1985, after many years of collecting Breyer model horses, I finally stumbled upon the model horse hobby, with all of it's photo shows, live shows, and it's many ways of exercising the old artistic bone. Being that I had been drawing and painting since a young age, it only seemed natural to give customizing a try. It didn't take long before I had a number of live and photo show champions, and I've been going ever since. Most all of my older creations have moved on to new homes in the USA, Canada, England, Germany and Brazil. In fact, maybe you can help me. Over the years I have lost track of most all of my older works. If you happen to own one of them, I would love to hear from you. So don't be bashful. My pieces are usually signed on the belly with either D.Sloan, some may have Sloan and some may have just DJS . Over the past 8 years I have had to put the hobby on hold. I haven't attended any shows or done much creating. My only activity has been a few sales off and on, through eBay.
The Present
Now, in 2008 I am back in action. I used 2007 to warm up and now I'm going full speed creating. I'm not sure yet, if I will be able to make it to any live shows but I will be having many of my works available for sale. You will be able to view and purchase my works, either through eBay or by coming here and visiting the Sales Barn. You will also be able to view my newest work, in the, What's New Section. I will include items that are in progress, here as well, so that if you should see something that you want, you can have a say in it's final out come. Depending on where the horse is in it's progress, you might be able to request markings, or even color, if that hasn't been started yet. It is also my hope, to have a few give aways once in a while. In order to win, you will probably have to do something, like solve a puzzle. Sales items and give aways will be advertised on MH$P. Or you can visit often and see what's up.
My Work
Most of my work is finished in quality, durable, oil paint, with details in acrylic. All pieces are spray sealed with a durable clear coat, that most of the time, is matte but sometimes I do glossy. All models get glossed hooves and eyes and are signed. I also have found, that some colors are easier to accomplish in a combo of acrylic and pastel. All of my work is fully guarenteed. If you aren't happy, you have 3 days to notify me, and then to return the item, for a full refund. You can find more information about my sales policys on the, Contact Us page. At this point in time, I will only be selling finished pieces. I'm not open for commissions. As time goes on, I may change and start doing a few commissions. If you have any comments or questions, please do contact me. I would love to hear from you.
