MOSAIC               MARY BARON - THE ARTISTS at the MARBLE RIM GALLERY

I grew up in the Midwest and lived for my first grade school year with my grandparents in Wisconsin. My grandmother Katharine Clementson was a watercolor artist and I was frequently her subject as well as her pupil. My maternal grandfather, C.Harry Allis, was a painter who followed the post-Impressionists to Europe and later returned to exhibit in several U.S. galleries, finally settling in southern California. For over 35 years my younger sister and her husband have maintained Studio Solstone in the Pike Place Market in Seattle, where her watercolors, oil paintings, calendars, and notecards are sold . My two sons, my husband, and two brothers-in-law used so paint, so wall space is a prized commodity in our home.

My background is in teaching, but my avocation has always been painting, and I have taken part-time classes whenever possible. I have tried different subject matter as well as different media, working in charcoal, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, and, most recently, alcohol inks and Copic markers. I go back and forth as I create and like to mix media as well. Above all, I love color.
