Farewell

Rex Richardson

Friends, this is goodbye,
At least we’ve had this much to share.
As sweet as the grapes that hang on the vine,
Know in my heart that I care.

Time troubles us now,
A battle as old as the hills.
I know you will do no more than you can,
Don’t play into enemy hands.

High spirits we’ve shared,
Some holding more holding less.
What passes between our hearts I will keep,
With such treasure I hope you are blessed.

Lightening flashes in sight,
Thundering memory rolls on.
Not much can change the tears and the smiles,
In parting I leave with a song.
