Salmon River Volunteer Fire and Rescue
2004

In the late 1980’s the Salmon River Volunteer Fire and Rescue was born out of these isolated forest communities' determination to provide medical assistance and fire protection for its inhabitants. The SRVFR provides to the Salmon River watershed, emergency medical service with a Basic Life Support Ambulance Medic 11, housed in Forks of Salmon, that is operated by fifteen EMT-1 certified community members. Shelter fire protection engines are housed in Forks of Salmon, Sawyers Bar, and Cecilville, also operated by certified community fire fighters.  A water tender and rescue vehicle are also available for over the bank, and vehicle rescue.

Over the years the SRVFR has hosted EMT-1 certification, firefighter and CPR courses, to expand the company and involve the community. Today we have an active and engaged membership, meeting once a week throughout the year.

Our goal for the upcoming year is to establish a certified, professional, wildfire Strike Team, contracted through the US Forest Service. We are training regularly to meet compliance within a few months and hope to pass inspection for this coming fire season. We will be hosting a First Responder Course for interested community members in August.

Our company and community work hard to maintain funding through community activities and grants to cover training costs and insurance. If you are interested in becoming a member or helping out in different ways please contact us. We love help with our fundraisers and are always looking for fresh ideas. We have artistic t-shirts, sweatshirts, and cookbooks for sale. Come join us for our annual bake sales, softball games, dinners and craft fairs.
The Salmon River Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. is a non-profit organization.
