BIOGRAPHY

Jeff Fowle is a third generation family farmer and rancher from Etna, California. He and his wife Erin and son Kyle raise registered Angus cattle, Percheron draft horses, warmbloods, alfalfa and alfalfa-grass hay and grain as a rotation. They also start and train horses for riding, jumping, and driving. Their family run ranch has incorporated many environmentally beneficial and water efficient technologies and management strategies.

Jeff attended college at Colorado State University for two years and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for four and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and judged on their Livestock Judging Team. At Cal Poly he worked as a student manager for the school feed mill. Following college, he worked in Washington State for a year as the herdsman for BB Cattle Company and then returned to Etna, California in 1995 to operate the KK Bar Ranch and manage Siskiyou Percherons. The latter was started by his grandfather, Clarence Dudley, who devoted much of his time to the Percheron Horse Association of America, specifically to developing their youth education program. Both operations are now owned and operated by Jeff and his family.

Growing up, Jeff raised sheep and cattle and was active in the California and American Junior Associations, serving as a State and National director and President of the American Junior Hereford Association. He also was a member of 4-H and won the California Beef Award and served as a State Diamond Star.

Jeff is currently the chair of the Siskiyou County Planning Commission, 2nd vice president of the Siskiyou County Farm Bureau, the chair of the California Farm Bureau Beef Commodity Advisory Committee, Chair of the California Farm Bureau Commodity Policy Review Committee, is the beef representative on the Animal Health and Welfare Advisory Committee and the president of the North Fork Ditch Company.

In the community, Jeff is a member of the Berean Church, has served as a director and president of the Scott Valley Pleasure Park, Jeff has also taught at the local high school for three years; one as an English teacher and two as the Agriculture teacher, and was the coordinator for After School Tutoring and Activities for five. Jeff has also coached boy’s basketball at the high school level for eight years and the local Police Activities League boy’s basketball team for two.

Additionally, he has been actively engaged in water and endangered species issues since 1992. Jeff served on the California Coastal Salmonid Restoration Committee, the Scott Rivers CRMP and Scott River Watershed Council, of which he is currently a member of the water committee. His passion for protecting the family farmer and rancher from unnecessary and burdensome federal and state regulation has led to his involvement in several state initiated regulatory processes, including the Klamath, Shasta and Scott Rivers Total Maximum Daily Load plans, and the Shasta and Scott Rivers Incidental Take Permits.
